Margaret Amy Crotts/Boone '83 Biology Scholarship

Margaret Amy Crotts Boone had ambitious goals for herself from a young age. She had a quick mind and a desire for learning and furthered this passion as a student at Hollins University, where she graduated in the class of 1983.

After receiving her bachelor's degree in Biology, Amy was able to pursue what she loved and what was at the core of her being--helping others. Specifically, Amy helped others through teaching, and always focused on those less fortunate than herself.

Even while Amy taught science and math in schools, she visited local prisons and tutored inmates to help them receive their GED. Throughout her life and balancing full time teaching positions with raising a family, she always made time to tutor at schools that catered to children who did not have the resources for quality educations.

The Margaret Amy Crotts Boone Scholarship is one of Amy's ongoing legacies. The scholarship's focus is to assist young women receive they resources they need, as long as they are determined and motivated individuals, so that they can realize their dreams and pursue their passions.
